GAME VENUE

Chickasha High School Soccer Field

OAFC played South Select in Chickasha bringing the Season tally to 7-0-0!

Oklahoma Alliance FC's Dria Hampton, Kelsey Allison, and Caitlin Mooney warm up before the game

Oklahoma City, OK (07.12.2008) CONGRATULATIONS to Oklahoma Alliance FC for capturing the Big Sky South Conference Championship with a 2-1 victory over South Select on a cloudy and warm evening at Hampton Field in Chickasha, Oklahoma where we saw a crowd of over 200 fans witness a fantastic game.

Oklahoma Alliance FC now with a 7-0-0 record in conference play only has one game remaining in a rematch against South Select. Oklahoma Alliance FC will travel to either New Mexico or Arizona to play the Big Sky North Champions in the Regional Championships July 25-27, 2008 for an opportunity to compete in the World Championships on August 2-3, 2008.

This game started out very slowly for the Oklahoma Alliance FC team, it appeared as if they were experiencing fatigue from their previous nights’ game with Tulsa Spirit, however the tempo of the game picked up after giving up a goal on a defensive error 18 minutes into the first half. At the 30:16 minute mark in the first half Chelsea Cody (Texas Christian University ) plays an absolutely remarkable ball to Dria Hampton whom slipped in behind a defender down the middle of the field. Dria Hampton made a great shot over the top of the keeper to tie the game at 1-1. At the 41:13 minute mark of the first half, Dria Hampton assisted Ashley Farrand (Oklahoma University ) for the second goal of the night for Oklahoma Alliance FC to put the score at 2-1 and this is how the match ended. Ashley Farrand (Oklahoma University ) did a great job beating a defender to slip the ball into the back side of the net.

This was a night that saw several quality scoring opportunities by Oklahoma Alliance FC fall short or the South Select keeper just simply making great saves. She made two great saves in the first half where Caitlin Mooney got free long enough to put shots on goal but both were saved by the outstanding play all night by the South Select goalkeeper.

It is worth noting, these last two matches saw Chelsea Cody (Texas Christian University ) a defensive midfielder create two opportunities for the team scoring in both games by assists. This woman simply plays hard and smart, but when Oklahoma Alliance FC needed a spark, Chelsea Cody (Texas Christian University ) provided it in two games that now have sent Oklahoma Alliance FC to the Regional Championships.

Goal keeper Lisa Jett (Challenge) saw action for the first time with Oklahoma Alliance FC and performed outstandingly.

Special Recognition for tonight’s performances against a very good South Select team go to Kelsey Allison (Oklahoma University), Jordan King (D’Feeters), Kelsey Craft (Eagles), Danielle Hughes (Tulsa University), Whitney Palmer (Oklahoma University), Ashley Bolden (Oklahoma University), Jordan Calhoun (Texas Christian University), Kelsey Allison (Oklahoma University), and Annie Zoch (USAO) who had a tremendous game speedily anticipating the ball and the player.

We visited with forward Caitlin Mooney after tonight’s game to get her perspective of capturing the Big Sky South Conference Championship as well as her thoughts on playing in the vaunted WPSL. “We are very excited to win our conference given we are a very young team and also because it is our first opportunity to play in the WPSL. Also, we are all excited about having the opportunity to go to Regionals later this month”. Caitlin Mooney’s thoughts on playing in the WPSL, “it has been fun because it gives us younger players an opportunity to see what playing at the college level will be like. It is incredible playing against these older players for it allows us to learn so much about soccer at that next level. I have enjoyed playing this year and really look forward to hopefully getting the opportunity to play against some of the former WUSA players as well”.

Oklahoma Alliance FC ended the game with 11 to 12 shots on goal, 2 to 1 on corner kicks, and South Select led on fouls 16 to 6, South Select had the edge on off sides with a 2 to 1 margin.

Oklahoma Alliance FC has moved its conference record to 7-0-0 and now is the Big Sky South Conference Champion. They resume play with their last match of the season in conference play against conference opponent South Select out of Houston, Texas, Saturday night at 7:00pm on July 19th at Texas A&M, College Station, Texas.

OAFC played Tulsa Spirit in Tulsa bringing the Season tally to 6-0-0!

Oklahoma Alliance FC's Stephanie Weigel and Kaylie Garcia Oklahoma City, OK (07.11.2008) on a very warm night at the Tulsa Union Eight Grade Center stadium, in Tulsa, Oklahoma where the crowd exceeded 250 fans, it came down to a great battle between the two Oklahoma WPSL teams. Oklahoma Alliance FC and Tulsa Spirit dueled to a 1-0 game with the win going to Oklahoma Alliance FC.

Kelsey Craft (Eagles) within the first 3 minutes of the match served up a tremendous ball across the face of the Tulsa Spirit goal where a charging Caitlin Mooney headed it just over the top of the net.  This was a contest that showed a great deal of excitement and opportunities from both teams. The only goal of the night was scored by Kyndall Treadwell (Oklahoma State University ) on a beautifully played ball by Chelsea Cody (Texas Christina University ) in the first half with only 9:50 remaining.

Dria Hampton performed well on this night with her set pieces; it was just that Oklahoma Alliance FC did not get on the end of them to score this night. This night proved to be one in which Oklahoma Alliance FC had many goal scoring opportunities just go over the top of the net or wide of the net. Oklahoma Alliance FC out shot Tulsa Spirit 13 to 4 in the second half.

We saw a rugged performance out of Caitlin Mooney all night; it appears as if she is drawing the attention from opposing defenders for she is being fouled regularly these days but her tough and creative play continues to give Oklahoma Alliance FC scoring opportunities.

Goal keepers Kelsey Walters (Texas Christian University) and Katie Matuska performed outstanding for Oklahoma Alliance FC during the match pitching their 5 shut-out in only 6 matches.

Special Recognition for tonight’s performances against a very good Tulsa Spirit team go to Kelsey Allison (Oklahoma University), Jordan King (D’Feeters), Kelsey Kraft (Eagles), Colleen Dougherty (Oklahoma State University), Danielle Hughes (Tulsa University) Ashley Farrand (Oklahoma University), Whitney Palmer (Oklahoma University), Ashley Bolden (Oklahoma University), Stephanie Weigel (University Central Oklahoma), and Kelsey Springstead (University Central Oklahoma).

We visited with Kyndall Treadwell after tonight’s match and here is what she had to say regarding the game winning goal “it was just a great ball played to me by teammate Chelsea Cody and I finished it. I am just glad we got that one because we didn’t score again”. Her comments about a foul during the first half, “the Tulsa Spirit defender just took me down as I was dribbling around her, it made me mad but those things happen.” We wanted to know Kyndall Treadwell’s thoughts on the WPSL and what it meant to her to play in the league, “it is so much fun; the level of play is great, you are playing against some very good players and it keeps you having to play at a very high level. It is a great opportunity for us to play in the summer and it really helps with getting ready for college.”

Oklahoma Alliance FC ended the game with 19 to 9 shots on goal, 8 to 2 on corner kicks, and fouls were even at 12 each and Tulsa Spirit had 4 off sides to none for Oklahoma Alliance FC.

Oklahoma Alliance FC has moved its conference record to 6-0-0 and now is two games atop the Big Sky South Conference. They resume play with their first match against conference opponent South Select out of Houston, Texas, Saturday night at 6:00pm on July 12th at Chickasha High School Soccer Field located NW of the Activity Center at 101 John P. Cowan Drive, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Coach Hampton and Oklahoma Alliance FC would like to honor a previous student athlete who played for Coach Hampton at Chickasha High School. Craig Meyers played goal keeper for Coach Hampton before leaving for college at OSU. Craig was killed in a plane crash in January of 2007. OAFC would like to take a moment to honor his life of service and teaching.   Click here for a biography of Craig's life.

OAFC played Tulsa Spirit bringing the Season tally to 5-0-0!

Oklahoma Alliance FC

Oklahoma City , OK (07.05.2008) -

on a hot night at SNU stadium, we saw a tremendous battle between the two Oklahoma WPSL teams of the Big Sky South Conference face off for a hard fought match.

This game proved to be a very physical match with the play for the most part in the first half consisting of missed opportunities by both teams. Oklahoma Alliance FC came out a bit sluggish which may have had to do with the heat but finally got things rolling late in the first half at the 32:39 minute mark when forward Caitlin Mooney took a ball and headed it past the goal keeper and a defender inside the box and was taken down. This resulted in a PK for the Oklahoma Alliance FC team with only minutes remaining in the first half. The PK was taken by Dria Hampton whom made a beautiful shot that the keeper simply could not get to and Oklahoma Alliance FC took a 1-0 lead into the half.

As this game turned more physical, it appeared the Oklahoma Alliance FC picked it up in the second half. The second half is where Oklahoma Alliance FC took a 9 to 5 shots on goal advantage. However Tulsa Spirit led with fouls by a margin of 9 to 3. At the 28:12 minute mark of the second half, Alison Farrell (Oklahoma State University ) went down with an injury and it appeared to be an ACL. There will be no confirmation on the injury until Tuesday evening when she has an MRI done. This will be a blow to Oklahoma Alliance FC for Alison Farrell (Oklahoma State University) has been such a force to deal with in the midfield with her amazing air ball abilities.

With only 7:06 remaining in the match, Caitlin Mooney again was taken down about 28 yards out from the goal and this resulted in another set piece for Oklahoma Alliance FC. Dria Hampton took the kick and found Chelsea Cody (Texas Christian University) who headed the ball into the path of an on rushing Jordan Calhoun (Texas Christian University ) who shot the ball past the keeper for Oklahoma Alliance FC’s second and final goal of the night. This made the score 2-0 and was how the match ended. Oklahoma Alliance FC has proven during the season to be very dangerous on set pieces and again puts yet another ball in the back of the net to seal their fifth win of the season to keep them undefeated atop the Big Sky South Conference.

This was a night that saw forward Kyndall Treadwell (Oklahoma State University ) play a very hard and fast paced game from her position. Kyndall Treadwell kept the Tulsa Spirit defenders running all night long with her consistent runs; she just simply wore down the Tulsa Spirit defenders by the second half.

The Oklahoma Alliance FC midfielders of Danielle Hughes (Tulsa University) and Kelsey Springstead (University of Central Oklahoma) played relentless in maintaining the midfield though being under tremendous pressure from a hard working Tulsa Spirit group. Also, Chelsea Cody performed outstanding from her defensive midfield role this night. Chelsea Cody stole and won several balls that could have turned into great opportunities for Tulsa Spirit but were denied.

The Oklahoma Alliance FC defense consisting of Melinda Mercado (Oklahoma State University), Carlin Gibbs (Southern Methodist University), Annie Zoch (USAO), Colleen Dougherty (Oklahoma State University ), and Brittney Jay (USAO) were absolutely outstanding in shutting down the fierce Tulsa Spirit attack. These four women were under a great deal of pressure during the game but absolutely held their ground and worked together to pitch the fourth shutout in the Big Sky South Conference this year.

Oklahoma Alliance FC added three new players to its roster and each woman saw action this night, goalkeeper Katie Matuska, midfielder Taylor Smithwick (USAO), and forward Ashley Farrand (Oklahoma University). Katie Matuska played outstanding in her first match for starting goalkeeper Kelsey Walters (Texas Christian University ) whom was at a North Carolina goalkeeper camp this week.

Dria Hampton for her efforts on the night with a goal and an assist to lead her team to a 2-0 victory was named Women of the Match.

Oklahoma Alliance FC ended the game with 13 shots on goal to 8 for Tulsa Spirit, and led 2 to 0 on corner kicks. This game saw a lot of fouls, Tulsa Spirit led by a margin of 17 to Oklahoma Alliance FC’s 8 for the match. This was a match that saw a Tulsa Spirit team fight until the very end, a hard fought game between two new WPSL teams on this extremely hot night.

Oklahoma Alliance FC has moved its conference record to 5-0-0 and now is two games atop the Big Sky South Conference. They resume play with a rematch against Tulsa Spirit Friday night at 7:00pm on July 11th at Tulsa Union Eight Grade Center, 6501 S. Garnett Rd, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and play South Select out of Houston, Texas Saturday night at 6:00pm on July 12th at Chickasha High School Soccer Field located NW of the Activity Center at 101 John P. Cowan Drive, Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Alliance FC

Oklahoma City , OK (06.14.2008) - On a cool and windy night at SNU stadium, we saw the Big Sky South Conference leader in the WPSL take on Vitesse Dallas in another match up of the young season. In the previous outing, Oklahoma Alliance FC was a 5-0 winner, however tonight would be different.

It was not until the 29:48 minute of the first half that Oklahoma Alliance FC scored the first goal of the game. It came on a terrific strike by Kendall Treadwell that the Vitesse Dallas goal keeper blocked but unable to maintain possession and the ball bounced out to a charging Danielle Hughes whom struck the ball into the net. This put Oklahoma Alliance FC up 1-0. Oklahoma Alliance FC goal keeper Skylar Rosson made a couple of first half saves against Vitesse Dallas that preserved a first half shut out. Oklahoma Alliance FC almost saw another goal with seconds before the half on a through ball played by Caitlin Mooney to Kaylie Garcia whom was caught off sides. There were few scoring opportunities in the first half by either team as the first half came to an end.

The second half got off to a much different pace, with the Oklahoma Alliance FC putting more pressure on the Vitesse Dallas team. However it was Vitesse Dallas that got off a powerful shot at the 41:10 minute mark but a nice save by Oklahoma Alliance FC goal keeper Skylar Rosson kept the Texas team scoreless. It was at the 23:43 minute mark of the second half that Caitlin Mooney beat two Vitesse Dallas defenders and played a solid through ball to the feet of  Kaylie Garcia whom struck the ball only to see it hit the side of the net. Oklahoma Alliance FC created several scoring opportunities but just did not get them into the back of the net on this night. This was a night that saw the Vitesse Dallas defenders play an outstanding game. It was not until the 8:30 minute mark of the second half that Oklahoma Alliance FC scored its second goal of the night on a through ball from Caitlin Mooney to a back side charging Chelsea Cody whom made a terrific shot on goal to put Oklahoma Alliance FC up 2-0 for the night. Chelsea Cody commented after the game on her goal “Caitlin just played me a great ball and I was only hoping not to get taken out by that big defender”. Chelsea Cody’s thoughts on playing in the WPSL “I am glad to be playing in this league where there are so many great players and it beats practicing”.

With the game coming to a close, Cenayda Guzman got on the end of a loose ball played to her by Kaylie Garcia and made a terrific shot on goal and found the inside of the net for the third and final goal of the evening for Oklahoma Alliance FC. Cenayda Guzman thoughts on her first goal of the season “it was amazing, I was so excited that it went in”. Cenayda Guzman on playing in the WPSL “It is amazing to play with all these great players, the game is so much faster and the players are much bigger and stronger”. The game ended in a 3-0 win for Oklahoma Alliance FC and keeps them at the top of the Big Sky South Conference with five games remaining. Oklahoma Alliance FC now is 3-0-0 on the season heading into this evening’s game against a difficult foe in Ft Worth FC.

Oklahoma Alliance FC, Melinda Mercado was named Woman of the Match. Melinda Mercado on being selected Woman of the Match “I am honored especially with so many great players on this team. The players on this team make me a better player so without them I would not be winning anything, they make it all happen”. Melinda Mercado’s thoughts on playing in the WPSL “it provides good experience for us and really beats training all the time. We get tired of beating up on each other in training so the WPSL makes it great for us to take what we do in practice and put into games. The players are also so good and it is exciting being a part of it all”.

Oklahoma Alliance FC got tremendous efforts on the night from Kendall Treadwell whom was putting tremendous pressure on the Vitesse Dallas defenders all night long. Allison Farrell was again a force to be reckoned with in the midfield, winning several air balls on the night. Defensively, Melinda Mercado, Allison Ouren, Annie Zoch, Colleen Dougherty, and Carlin Gibbs pitched yet another shutout for three on the season. These women played hard and just did not allow the Vitesse Dallas forwards to get untracked on the night. There was also exciting and creative play from Kelsey Allison and Whitney Palmer. Brittany Jay and Taylor Turnipseed provided aggressive play that kept Vitesse Dallas on edge throughout the night as well. Kaylie Garcia was a dangerous threat all night long with her crafty play; she kept the Vitesse Dallas defense guessing all night long.

We caught up with Head Coach Jimmy Hampton of Oklahoma Alliance FC after the game. Coach Hampton’s thoughts on this nights game, “it was an ugly win for us tonight, we did not really control the midfield all night, we were playing more of their game and not ours. We found ourselves running after the ball to much. Vitesse Dallas played very well, we just did not play as well as we are capable of playing. It really hurt us not having Dria Hampton in the midfield tonight to help us change the pace of the game when needed but a win is a win and we will always take that. I would much rather have an ugly win than a pretty loss anytime”.

Coach Hampton on the WPSL “I think it is great for the future of women’s soccer in this country. It allows a venue for the top women soccer players to further their development at such a high level and it provides an opportunity for many to be seen and recognized whereas that opportunity may never have happened. We are excited to be a part of this tremendous league and we want to contribute as best we can”.

OAFC players before the game.

Oklahoma City, OK (06.14.2008) - The fans witnessed a very exciting game against Ft Worth FC. The game started out with Ft Worth FC getting an apparent goal at the 36:45 minute mark however, it was called off-sides.

This was a game that saw several opportunities by the Oklahoma Alliance FC team but not finding the net early. However, at the 27:34 minute mark in the first half, Jordan Calhoun made a nice shot on goal that found the back of the net on an assist from Colleen Dougherty. This put Oklahoma Alliance FC up 1-0. The game went back and forth with Allison Farrell, Dria Hampton, and Chelsea Cody doing a tremendous job in controlling the ball in the midfield. At the 11:38 minute mark, Dria Hampton took a corner kick and found Melinda Mercado who volleyed the ball into the net for the second goal of the night for Oklahoma Alliance FC, putting the score at 2-0 for the half. Goal keeper Kelsey Walter continued to hit booming kicks during the first half of the match that kept Oklahoma Alliance FC in great field position.

Ft Worth FC got untracked early in the second half and got two goals in the first 4 minutes to even the score at 2-2.

At the 40:06 minute mark, Dria Hampton found an open Caitlin Mooney on a counter-attack, Caitlin Mooney got free just enough to play a ball to Jordan Calhoun where an Ft Worth FC defender deflected the ball and Jordan Calhoun got control of it and made a fantastic shot to the back side of the net for the third goal of the night for Oklahoma Alliance FC thus putting them back into a 3-2 lead.

Then at the 15:07 minute mark, Caitlin Mooney beat a couple of Ft Worth FC defenders to enable her to cross the ball back to a charging Dria Hampton coming down the middle of the field, it looked as though Dria Hampton was going to take the shot but she saw a fast approaching Kelsey Allison out of the corner of her eye and passed the ball at the last second and Kelsey Allison struck the ball to an open part of the net. This was Kelsey Allison’s first goal of the season and a nicely shot ball at that. This put Oklahoma Alliance FC back up 4-2.

We spoke to Dria Hampton after the game and asked her about the corner kick she assisted a goal on and her assist late in the second half, “I just felt if I could get the ball across to where the keeper could not reach it then we would have a chance. Melinda Mercado made a beautiful volley on the ball for the goal and the goal to Kelsey Allison I just felt if I could draw the keeper to me then it would give her a chance to get in behind for a goal and that is what happened”. Dria Hampton’s thoughts on playing in the WPSL; “This is a big deal, it is very exciting and these teams are so good. You can never relax against this type of competition and it is a real honor and privilege to play against these older players that have so much experience. I just learn so much in watching them play and playing against them. It will make us all better players because of the things we will learn while playing in this league. The WPSL is a great accomplishment just to get a chance to play in it. It is a step before the professional league that is coming and you can bet many of the players in the WPSL will be on professional rosters sometime next year”.

At the 10:46 minute mark, Ft Worth FC got loose on yet another goal that pulled the score to within one goal. This is how the match ended, a 4-3 victory for Oklahoma Alliance FC. This allows Oklahoma Alliance FC to remain at the top of the Big Sky South Conference with a 4-0-0 record.

Oklahoma Alliance FC ended the game with 11 shots on goal to 7 for Ft Worth FC and led 3 to 2 on corner kicks. This was a match that saw Ft Worth FC come out and play their hearts out which makes the WPSL such an exciting event to watch.

Jordan Calhoun was named Woman of the Match tonight having led her team with 2 goals on the night. We caught up with Jordan Calhoun after the game to get a few comments from her about the WPSL. Jordan Calhoun’s comments about the two goals she scored tonight “it feels awesome and feels good to get those goals because as it turned out, we really needed them tonight”. Jordan Calhoun on the WPSL, “It is so much different than club soccer, it helps us get ready for college soccer and the competition is so good you cannot take any time off in these games. Ft Worth FC was a very good team and they just kept coming back. When you get a team down like we did they tend to give up but not in this league. These teams are so good that you’re not safe with a 3-0 lead”.

Oklahoma Alliance FC has begun their conference play with a 4-0-0 mark and will resume play against Tulsa Spirit Saturday night at 7:00pm on July 5 at SNU ‘Southern Nazarene University’ stadium located at NW 50th and Tompkins in Bethany, Oklahoma.
